Escaping to the Countryside From Your Kitchen

At the time of this post, we are beginning to leave a national lockdown. However, over the past year, those of us who aren't key workers have been made to embrace a slower pace of life. Because of this, more and more people have started to fantasise about a more simplistic, rural lifestyle. Thus, the increase in popularity of "Cottagecore". 

On Urban Dictionary, cottagecore is defined as "an 'aesthetic' depicting/revolving around a romanticized life in nature. Very serene and calming vibes." It has been developing as an aesthetic since 2010 and was named "cottagecore" in 2018. 

While it's not possible for all of us to give up our jobs and run away to the countryside, we can bring some of that rural aesthetic to our homes, wherever they might be. Why not start in the kitchen?

For example, you could recreate the beautiful, cosy look of the kitchen above with a can of sage green paint, some of our brushed nickle rod handles and our simple gallows cast iron shelf brackets. Deck your kitchen out with some plants and it'll be the perfect place for a quiet cup of tea.
